Located in Guadalajara’s Americana neighbourhood, the new Aagnes studio occupies an area where restaurants, galleries, workshops and cultural institutions coexist with an important architectural legacy, including early residential works by Luis Barragán. The practice chose the location for its balance between urban activity and everyday calm, embracing a setting where daily routines and the surrounding city become part of the creative process rather than a distraction.

Designed to reflect the studio’s identity, the interior brings together craft, natural materials and contemporary design in a restrained environment. Rather than seeking visual impact, the project prioritises a quiet atmosphere where work and introspection coexist. Conceived as a place of refuge, the space encourages a slower rhythm while remaining connected to the life of the neighbourhood.

The studio is organised around an open plan that can adapt to different ways of working. A central area functions as both reception and exhibition space, displaying artworks alongside the studio’s own pieces. Meeting areas, reading spaces, material tables and shared workbenches are designed to support multiple activities, allowing the layout to evolve with the practice’s daily needs.

Furniture and objects from different periods, materials and places are arranged without a fixed hierarchy, allowing works from Mexico, Asia and Europe to coexist naturally. This layered composition reflects the studio’s design approach, where attention to light, material and atmosphere shapes a workspace that remains open to change while maintaining a strong connection to its surroundings.
