Spanish designer Isern Serra has transformed his Barcelona studio into a workspace shaped by the atmosphere of a home. Located on the fourth floor of a 1960s industrial building in Poblenou, the project replaces the conventional office layout with a series of domestic-inspired spaces designed to encourage comfort, creativity and reflection. Curved walls, arched openings and carefully selected objects contribute to an environment that balances work with everyday life.

The interior is organised into two main zones separated by a change in floor level. A raised platform near the entrance accommodates the meeting room, lounge, kitchen and dining area, while the main workspace occupies the brighter end of the studio beside full-height windows. Arched openings connect the different rooms, including a tunnel-like corridor leading to the bathroom and storage, while curved walls soften the transitions between spaces.

The lounge is arranged around an L-shaped sofa integrated into a raised concrete platform that also incorporates planting. Nearby, the kitchen features dark walnut cabinetry, a Caliza stone worktop and a rounded dining table, while a small curved opening reveals a softly lit material library beyond the wall. Throughout the studio, a restrained material palette creates a calm backdrop for furniture, books and objects.

A single step leads down to the workspace, where two five-metre-long concrete tables appear to float on cylindrical supports. Shelving behind them displays books, materials and design objects, reinforcing the studio’s role as both a workplace and a space for inspiration. Designed to host talks and exhibitions as well as everyday work, the interior accommodates a changing collection of artworks and objects that bring character to the space.
